I finally finished at least one Assassin’s Creed fan art. I really wanted to make one environmental piece, so I decided to paint Jackdaw, Edward Kenway…and of course the damaged fort. And it’s matte painting again… Anyway, I had couple of sketches till I got this concept which you can see above. More info you can check on link above. Enjoy.
This is something that slips past the Western viewers- it looks like it’s reaching out for Chihiro, in a malicious way, to the Western viewers. It’s what I thought growing up.
However, now, that I know that it’s a way of signalling for someone to ‘Come here!’ in Japan, the scene takes on a whole new meaning.
That spirit knows that if Chihiro doesn’t eat the food, she will disappear. And it knows if it offers the food, she cannot be cursed as a gluttonous pig because it wouldn’t have been stolen.
Just a unique take when you have all of the context.
Happy birthday to my friend, linh-sama! I wanted to try an Okami-inspired watercolor rendition of Ryuko and Mako. I chose the worst paper to work on though. Whenever I laid down any color, it would just sit ON TOP of the paper in a water bubble READY TO BURST AT ANY PROVOCATION so I had to wait at least ten minutes for each layer to dry. It turned out okay in the end though! I killed time in between watching House of Cards. 8D
